Ok. People over at mektek apparently can't help with this. Anyone here?
I also added CDilla to the exceptions list.

hmmm i have kaspersky also the 6.0 version, it sounds like your doing everything right but kaspersky can block alot of things. you might want double check all of your settings. other than that i don't know what would cause it.
if it were kaspersky blocking mercs it should tell you that it has done so.

probly check settings see if you have it set for it to tell you of just some changes or blocks and not all of them. if its that its probly blocking it without it telling you it is

I know it's set to ask me before blocking. (it asks me about *everything* else that happens on my computer... every process that's loaded >_<). It asked the first time I started MW up if I wanted it blocked or restricted, and I told it to grant MW full access.

A note to anyone reading this thread or with similar problems:
DITCH THAT nuts! Most retail internet security/virus programs are a load of useless crap. Most of your internet security can be taken care of by a few settings in Windows and your browser and safe surfing habits. Get firefox for starters. On the side of virus scanners my personal(and extensive) experience with various industry giants has shown that more often than not they are simply an annoyance while doing very little to help the overall security of your computer. The one exception to this rule seems to be PC cillin(if we are talking retail). Its cheaper than the others and has free lifetime updates and is unobtrusive and requires very little resources.

hmm i never really had a problem with kaspersky, once it is done with it's training modes and gets acustom to your system it only bothers you when there is a real threat.

i've sifted through all the settings. didn't see anything.
in addition: after drops tonight, i started kaspersky while mercs was running. the result was that i could not connect to any servers (networking errors) even though i allowed mercs in all the boxes that popped up.

hmmm that means something is still blocking it. on my version of kaspersky there is a spot for port traffic. try checking there and make sure the correct ports are open.

ok problem solved, enable the compatiblity mode under your protection settings. it will disable the anti dialer but that is only needed for dial up users. the game takes a little bit longer to start up but it works just fine.
